riyazRiyaz Ali is a junior in a South Bronx high school who is part of ICP’s year-long community based participatory action research project to understand the intersections among housing, homelessness, and substance abuse in the South Bronx, specifically in his Bronx River neighborhood in District 17. He participated in ICP’s 2014 local and national program during which he traveled to learn about heroism and segregation in New York City, Washington D.C., Detroit, and Chicago.

 

 

 

 

 

 

raldenysRaldenys Tolentino is a senior in high school who is a part of ICP’s year-long community based participatory action research project to understand the intersections among housing, homelessness, and substance abuse in the South Bronx where she lives. She holds an eagerness to learn which keeps her always on her toes and she is always pondering on what she learns to build upon her knowledge. This eagerness for learning combined with her reflective demeanor make up part of who she is, not only as a student but also as a global citizen. Her curiosity to discover deeper meaning and understanding of self has led her in a never-ending journey for further development. She participated in ICP’s 2014 local and national program during which she traveled to learn about heroism and segregation in New York City, Washington D.C., Detroit, and Chicago. Paulo Freire once said, “We make the road by walking.” Raldenys will never stop walking because there is no reason for her or anyone to not achieve their goals.
