Description: The Illuminated Cities Project (ICP) offers a community-based approach to education that asks students to develop themselves on a personal level and to think critically about their environments in order to improve them. Our work is driven by the words of Professor Jeffrey Duncan-Andrade, “The goal of education is not to escape from poverty. The goal of education is to end it.” ICP incorporates heroism, urban design, and travel in our work to facilitate the process for students to create equitable solutions to community issues, and will offer a space for participants to experience some of our methods.
