Day 5 Appreciations from Xian Barrett (12/27/2012)

  1. Lulu (Director of Danceability in Mexico and Diversidad Corpo Sin Frontier) and everyone else in the world who uses their work to “spread humanity”
  2. Amazing conversations about misogyny and societal gender roles with real talk and honesty.
  3. The Museum of Memory and Tolerance’s willingness to connect human atrocities and their commonality rather than exceptionalization. It gave me hope that so much suffering might bloom love rather than more division.
  4. Simulated empathy training is growing as an educational approach. It was weirdly wonderful to have Alina introduce a revision of a lesson I had worked on in Japan back to me.

I think I ate about a dozen churros.
